“What’s going on?” Max asked Nelson while holding Mei.
“Take Mei through the shortcut to your house.” Nelson peered around the decorative arch shape shrubs that led to the garden entrance. He could see the local police department making their way through the crowd of drunk teens. They had their hands full. This should buy them some time.
“Oh, hell no! You are not taking my friend through no secret, nothing. I don’t know you!” Cora argued with Nelson under her breath.
Nelson looks into her smoldering brown eyes. She was not backing down, and he had no clue how to make her understand she could trust them. “Look, get your car. Max, I will bring your truck; just give me your keys.” Nelson said. “Cora, follow me…trust me!”
Max tossed Nelson the vehicle’s keys. While Nelson and Cora made it to their cars, Max carried Mei through the shortcut behind two houses. He tried his best not to shake her too much, but the disaster was inevitable.
Max jerked back and felt Mei’s body lunge forward. Then there was that unmistaken hot, slimy goo, oozing down his back. Mei briefly moaned and then fell unconscious. Max shuddered, then laughed to himself. “Well, I guess this is Karma.”
He made it back to his house, expecting to see Nelson and Cora waiting for them in the driveway, but they weren’t there. He laid Mei on an outdoor lounge chair near the front door of his home. Max looked down at his shirt and back at Mei. They were both covered in vomit.
“Mei,” with a gentle tap on her shoulder, he tries to wake her.
He didn’t feel comfortable about how relaxed she appeared. He called out her name, louder; again, no answer. Max sat her up and shook her a little. Still no response. Panic set in; Max swooped her up, carrying her into his home, up to his bedroom. He placed her down on the closed toilet seat of his private bathroom, balancing her as he reached over to turn on the cold shower. Max removed her shoes and socks, making sure not to remove anything else.
Dressed, he picked her up and stood in the shower with her, making sure the cold water was hitting her. He rinsed the vomit from her hair and clothing while calling out her name. His fingers trembled as he fears the worst. Thoughts of calling 911 crossed his mind.
Feeling the cold water pounding against her back brought her to consciousness. Yet, the warmth on her face confused her. Images flashed in her mind of what she believed to have taken place, and now her stepfather had won. She fought him. With her eyes still closed, she faced him, pounding on his chest, screaming, “NO!” and trying to get away.
“Mei, open your eyes.” He said, holding her, not wanting her to fall. “It’s me, Max. I won’t hurt you. It’s okay,” Max spoke, absorbing her blows. He embraced her, planting soft kisses on her forehead.
Mei froze, then her eyes opened, fixated on his chest. She looked up at Max, and their eyes met. Despite the cold water, the warmth from his arms around her caused a subtle vibration in her chest. The feeling of being protected overwhelmed her. Mei wanted to be in his embrace forever. He spoke to her. The masculine vibrations of his voice soothed her. Mei’s lips tingled as if electricity were pulsating through them. She pulled at his shirt.
Max assumed the remnants of vomit on his shirt were bothering her. He pulls his shirt over his head, throwing it out of the shower. “I’m sorry. You threw up when I was carrying you,” Max thundered over the water, but it seemed as if Mei was not listening to him. Her presence felt alien as her slender fingers rested on his bare chest. As the water falls on them, he notes their position. His left arm warped around her small waist. His Right arm resting on her mid back. The water was icy, but her soft perfume enlightened his senses.
She wondered what it would be like to make love with someone like this. His skin was velvety soft, and he felt warm, safe, and loving. The best part is it will be my choice. Tears rolled down her cheek. Mei was all too aware of her stepfather’s intentions. Her constant pleads for help only caused her to be viewed as a troublemaker. No able adult in their community wanted to believe that a handsome and respectful man is capable of such acts. Mei’s options were dwindling fast. “I can’t let him win…this is my choice.”
It was as if Max had read her thoughts. He lifts her chin and kissed her cheek where a teardrop had fallen. The tears then flooded Mei’s face as she clutched him. She refused to let him go of this newfound security.
Max’s mouth dropped, thinking back to when he observed her at the gas station. Something was wrong, and it could feel her helplessness. “Hey, don’t cry! I know I’m ugly.” Max wanted to make her laugh, but she was too deep in her grief.
“Make love to me,” Mei said, looking into his beautiful, grey eyes. Her heart was pounding. She could not believe what she was saying but refused to take it back; she meant every word. Her eyes were unwavering. Their eyes locked. Mei stood by what she said.
Max froze; he could not believe his ears. She’s just downright drunk! he thought. She doesn’t understand what she is asking me, and she doesn’t know how hard it would be for me to say ‘no.’
He lifts his right hand and smoothes her beautiful wavy hair. “Speak to me. Who hurt you?”
“I can’t tell you all the details.” Mei feared he would write her off as crazy, like the adults she had opened up to.
“Mei, I’m not like other guys—”
“I am begging you. I will never bother you again.” She cut him off before he could say more.
“Mei…I don’t want to take advantage of you,” Max said, pulling her close as she trembled from the cold shower.
“You’re not, Max…I want this…I would never blame you.” Tears fall from her eyes. “I just....” Mei refused to finish that thought out loud. I just don’t want my first time to be with my stepfather, she thought, sobbing more. Mei rested her head on Max’s firm chest, shivering under the water.
“Mei…” Max could see that something was very wrong, but he had no clue how to get it out of her. Her beauty captivated him, and he struggled with his emotions about doing the right thing. Max cursed at himself as he thought, “What is the right thing?’
“I just want to know what it feels like to be made love to.” Mei gazes into his grey eyes. She didn’t even recognize herself. She was pleading with a guy she knew to take her virginity, speaking as if he already loved her. Am I being pathetic? She asked herself.
Max searched for his inhibition, anything to strengthen his willpower, but the alcohol had taken it. He glanced down at Mei. His ears must be filled with water. “What’s wrong?” he asked her once more.
Mei fell against his chest in defeat; it was audible. Still, Max made out the word ‘stepfather,’” the word pounded on Max’s chest. “Did he-”
“No!” Mei said. “I need to leave my home.”
Thoughts of what the full story could be bounced around Max’s head. He became angry, yet his desire to be like a rock for Mei compelled him to not explode. Max moved his hands to cup her cheeks. He peered down into her emerald green eyes. “Why must you leave your home?” he asked, doing his best to not lose it.
“Please, don’t make me say it.” Mei showed no signs of deceit. Whatever this was, it had nothing to do with his social status or access to money. She noticed him until today. Max stared into her, feeling her emotions; his anger melted. He knew what he would have to do. He just hoped that she wouldn’t hate him later.
Emotions filled with love and passion overpowered his body as he kissed her soft lips. They both grabbed each other, tearing apart each other’s clothing until there were none. Max admired her feminine muscles that sat on her hourglass frame. Her long hair, drenched in water, hung in waves down her back.
Mei felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach as she thought about what lay ahead. She didn’t want to think about tomorrow or the aftermath of her choices. Guys like him are only looking for sex, Mei thought, and she did not wish to see Max coming after her just for sex; yet she was intent on getting rid of her virginity on her own terms. Thomas would not rob her of this. Mei would make sure this was a night to remember.
Max picked her up, straddling her legs around him. He turned around, still holding her. The cold water was pounding on his sleek, muscular back. Max looked down into her eyes and kissed her lips. “Are you ready?” his voice now resonated at a deeper vibration, hitting Mei at a level she knew nothing about.
Mei, nervous, second-guessing if she was about to do the right thing. It was too late now. Her head, which seemed to think of something else, nodded in approval. Max took that as a well-needed invitation, and he dove into her tightness. Mei yelped in pain as Max jumped, “Your’re a virgin?” Max had an instant regret at believing this was not how she should have lost her virginity. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Mei kissed him to let him know she was okay. She then groaned, her feminine vibrations synced with his masculinity, sending Max insane with passion. Images of a future with Mei flashed through his mind. Her emotions rushed through him like a blur. He was lost deep in her, their spirits united and everything outside of them seem to disappear. Max grunts as he explodes inside of Mei. His legs become weak as they slide down to the bottom of the tub. Max stretched her legs out on either sides of him and admired her entire body. To turn off the shower and fill the tub with warm water. Mei sat up in the tub and looks up at Max. “Did I hurt you?” Max asked.
“The pain helps me to forget.” Mei looks down at his manhood as a seductive grin grew on her face.
“I’m worried about you?” Max sensed she was in danger, but his skills as a spiritual warrior were still undeveloped.
“Let’s just live in this moment as if it were our last.” She said, reaching for him. Before they knew what had happened, both lay naked at the bottom of the shower, the warm water still running since Max forgot to stop the drain. Max stretched over Mei, reaching for a towel to cover her shivering body. He turned off the water and held Mei as she drifted off to sleep. Max dried off her slender frame, admiring her curves and mounds. He didn’t want to let go of her. His eyes grew heavy as she curled up on his chest.
An hour later, Max was awoken by a gasp.
“Max!” Nelson's voice booms, shocked to see his naked friend sleeping in the shower stall with an almost exposed Mei.
“What did you do?” Nelson said, eyes wide with shock.
“Shh!” Max motions for Nelson to get out.
“Damn, this is one nice house Max has got. Well, his parents.” Cora said, coming towards the room.
Nelson ran out to meet her at the bedroom door. “Can I give you a tour?” Nelson asked, leading her away.
Max lifted Mei out of the shower, grabbing clean towels to dry her off. He laid her on his king-sized bed beneath the sheet and blanket. He dressed and then ran into his parents’ master bedroom. “Luckily, they are not here at night.”
He grabbed a pair of designer jeans, four sizes too small for his now large, framed mother, and a tight, fitted t-shirt, also a size much too small for her. He rushed back to his room. While he was dressing Mei, coaxing her to wake up, Max rubs her arms and noticed deep cuts on her left. “What happened here?” Max had never seen scars like that. Maybe she was in a car accident.
By the time he heard Cora and Nelson arguing in the hall, walking towards his room, Mei was awake. They stood to hold each other, rocking back and forth. Cora burst through the door, coming to an abrupt stop. Her jaw dropped as she gawked in utter amazement. This bliss was a side of Mei she had not seen.
“Okay, what is going on?” Cora asked while stepping in front of Max, making sure he had eye contact with her.
“Hey, Cora,” Mei stumbles, turning to face her friend.
Cora’s mouth dropped. “Where is your bra?”
Max’s eyes bulged as he cursed under his breath. He didn’t think about her bra laying soaked on his bathroom floor.
“Oh, nothing. I—uh—got sick,” Mei said, walking away. “Look, nothing happened. Max has been the perfect gentleman.”
“Sure,” Cora disregards everything her friend says. “Whose clothes are you wearing?” She tugs at Mei’s top as she continues her interrogation. “Your girlfriend’s?” she grilled, staring into Max’s eyes.
“No, it’s my mom’s-”
“We should go; it’s almost five in the morning,” Mei changes the subject. She didn’t want to think of Max having a girlfriend. She felt guilty, remembering back earlier in class when he was arguing with Taisha. “What was I thinking?” Mei she spoke under her breath.
Somehow, Max overheard. He turned in her direction. “I don’t have a girlfriend.”
Mei didn’t want to hear it. All men are dogs. According to Mei, he's unreliable and just after more. She changes the subject again. “What took you guys so long?” Mei asked while sitting on the bed to put on her shoes.
“You would not believe that they gave everyone who drove a sobriety test,” Cora and Nelson both spoke at the same time.
“It was crazy!” Nelson said.
“Mei, let me take you home.” Max said, turning to face her.
Mei stood, shoes on. Her trick seemed to work on everyone else except him. Mei smirked as she held her head down. She walked over to him, not wanting to get too close. Mei didn’t want to make it seem like she was trying to be his girlfriend. She had promised herself that he would not hurt her. She got what she wanted.
“Max…I think I did enough damage to you tonight,” Mei said as she walked past him.
Max reached out and pulled her into his loving embrace. “Please?” He buried his face in hers and spoke in a low tone, just for her to hear. “I just want to make sure you’re alright.” He kissed her lips before pulling away. “We should talk too.”
Max was responsible, especially with sex. This was the first time he had ever done something like this. Max’s spirit had imprinted on Mei. He would not let this be the last time they were together.
Mei glanced back into his genuine, loving gaze and said, “God doesn’t give us more than we can handle,” she said. “Isn’t that right, Cora?” Mei looks over at her friend, who stood with her arms folded.
“Yeah, whatever, let’s go.” Cora said as she made her way out of the bedroom door.
“I better go. Looks like I’m in trouble.” Mei pulls her hand out of Max’s as she moved away from Max.
“Can I call you?” he asked, following her out the door.
“Ah, I…I…am not sure.” Mei said, scrunching her nose as she shoved her hands in her back pocket. She didn’t want him to find out about her twisted home life. She also didn’t want to be one of those chicks putting her phone on a shrine, praying to the cell phone gods for some guy to call.
“Come on, or I will have to stalk you,” Max said. No was not an option.
“Okay,” Mei said. “555-0143!” Mei threw out random numbers before rushing out and flying down the stairs to the front door. She was not taking a chance to worry if he would call her or not; however, Max held onto each number as if his life depended upon it.
Nelson stood back in shock. “I can’t believe you, man!” he said, eyes wide.
“She is special, Nelson. I never felt this way before.”
“It’s puppy love. We know nothing about true love.”
Max walked over to his bed and relaxed, absorbed with his thoughts about all that had happened that night. He couldn’t wait to see her again. It would be a challenge for him to sleep tonight. He thought about what happened, and what could happen. The danger he sensed she was in resurfaced. Then her words. “Let’s just live in this moment as if it were our last.” it haunted him.
“So, that Cora!”
“Are you kidding me?” Max . “She may be just the girl to cool you down.”
