Your first love…

When I first wrote my book “Endurance, the power within”. I knew nothing other than to place quotations around the dialogue and to use dialogue tags. I was approached by a friend in highschool. I told her I can’t write anything; she told me I could. I thought she was nuts, walked to my science class and wrote a book. I couldn’t wait to see after class. I could not believe what I just did. She looked at me and said, “Told you.” The rest is history.Shout out to Valery B.

In 2009, I thought I was in the traditionally publishing my first book. I misunderstood how the entire process worked. The day before the book was to be released, I couldn’t understand why they had not edited the book as yet. So I called the company and was informed that editing was not included. If I want the book edited, that would cost me 0.75 cents per word. My book was over one hundred thousand words. Yeah, do the math lol. I had just paid these people Three-thousand dollars. It was all I had and my husband at the time was already pissed at me for writing the book. I could not get my money back. They claimed services were already performed, so the money was already spent.

I remember feeling sick to my stomach, but I figured, well, no one will see it. I won’t share the link and it will only be my friends and family who will support my book. Well, I had a lot to learn. It was beginning my writing journey and today as I look back on it. I am deeply grateful for every tear, every drop of blood, and every bead of sweat. Writing and self-publishing my book caused me to lose my marriage, my family and my home. Maybe I should have given up, but when you are the type of person that fights for the dreams of your love ones as if they were their own. It’s hard because you wonder where has all the love gone.

So being an author can seem lonely, but trust me, if you are tenacious, you will see your dream come true. I plan to share my writing journey with you. You are more than welcome to share with whomever you may think this information will help. As I go through and revamp my books, I am going to share my story and it will help you as well.

I look forward to sharing with you, and I hope that we can all achieve our dreams no matter if its writing or not.
